I checked out an online dating site called Punk Match this week. Like a few other sites such as Club Emo, it was pretty shocking to find the site dominated by college-aged members. Younger people usually aren’t the majority at other dating sites but we have seen a huge rise in these types of alt dating sites. It turns out that younger people are using the internet in much different ways than the older generations.

A friend made an interesting comment about dating interracial. She said that it seemed pretty racist to only want to date members of another race. It means excluding a race of people- even if it is your own. While this comment makes perfect sense, my friend has never actually been to any of the online interracial dating sites to see what they are all about. What I love about these sites is that they are more than just mixing black and white or brown and yellow or whatever combination you can think of.

Even though the world still seems dominated by skinny chicks, there is someone out there for everyone. I was checking out Black BBW Singles and it showed me just that. The women there are, obviously, are all plus sized black women who are looking for all sorts of dating from one night stands to LTRs. It can be really difficult for a big beautiful woman to find a date offline but the reason isn’t because men aren’t looking (just take BlackBBWSingles as an example!).

This week, my online dating browsing took me to MeetLocals.com. The name seems pretty straight forward enough. Obviously, everyone wants to find not only the perfect partner, compatibility, and hot sparks- they also want to find that person within a 45 mile radius! I happen to live in a large city so my member search came up with a lot of results (lucky me!). When I typed in a random small town though, my options were much more limited.

A guy at the sex dating site XXXMatch.com told me his chances of getting laid through the site weren’t that much better than those romance dating sites. He went on to say that he was definitely meeting lots of hot hookups it was just that sex is never a guarantee. Basically, no matter what type of dating you are into (with the exception of religious dating), there is a good chance of getting laid on the first or second date. So what is the difference between sex dating sites and other dating sites online?
