Do Soul Mates Really Exist?

It seems like there are new cheating websites opening every day. Some sites like Lonely House Wives and Married But Playing have been around for years and have thousands of members. For those of us who believe in the idea of “the one,” this can seem pretty discouraging. But let’s face the facts (as any of the members of these sites will tell you): Marriage is NOT perfect. After being with someone for a long period of time, a person is bound to get bored. This doesn’t mean that there isn’t love in the marriage or commitment to the partnership. Rather, it means that we need to change our ideas and expectations about what a soul mate really is. Almost everyone at “married but looking” websites have no intention of ever leaving their spouses. They might even call their spouses their soul mates. Just because two people are bound together and love each other, it doesn’t mean they should stop learning and sharing with others. Maybe I am condoning cheating in marriage and I am sure many people will disagree with my sentiments. However, we need to be realistic about marriage and the fact that no partnership or person will ever be perfect.
