Is Interracial Online Dating… Racist?

A friend made an interesting comment about dating interracial. She said that it seemed pretty racist to only want to date members of another race. It means excluding a race of people- even if it is your own. While this comment makes perfect sense, my friend has never actually been to any of the online interracial dating sites to see what they are all about. What I love about these sites is that they are more than just mixing black and white or brown and yellow or whatever combination you can think of. Most of the members at interracial dating sites say they are there for one of two reasons: to expand their boundaries or because they like that the other members are also open minded. A lot of the members aren’t exactly searching for a specific race but rather someone who is open to all sorts of cultures and backgrounds. I even found a lot of Europeans and foreigners who joined interracial dating because they liked the atmosphere. True, anytime you limit yourself to one race or ethnicity, you are missing out on a whole field of potential soul mates and great experiences, but limiting yourself is not what dating interracial is about!
